Who We Are

The national payroll party

You may be wondering, “what is the national payroll party?” 

The national payroll party is a movement. Built to educate and inspire, the party will be seeking out Canadians in the party-spirit, attending some of the nation’s biggest celebrations, to talk about the role payroll plays in each of our lives.  

Founded by the National Payroll Institute, the national payroll party will be rallying support for the payroll profession across Canada, in the lead up to National Payroll Week, September 16-20, 2024.  

Ultimately, the party aims to build support and excitement for the payroll profession, while encouraging Canadians to sign a petition to formally establish a national day to recognize payroll professionals, on the third Tuesday of September each year.  

“But who is the national payroll party?”  

There are a few friendly faces representing the national payroll party across Canada. You may know Brittlestar, aka Stewart Reynolds, a notable Canadian internet personality, or his son, Gregor Reynolds, a social media influencer in his own right. These two will be hitting the streets throughout the month of July, to talk to Canadians about payroll and generate support for the petition.  

Stewart and Gregor will be joined by the national payroll party’s official party starter, Acroo the Owl, who will keep the party-vibes high throughout the national tour! 

But the best part about the national payroll party is there is room for the entire payroll community. We want YOU to be a part of the party, too. Join us throughout the tour, follow along, and register for one of the official PAYROLL PARTIES during National Payroll Week to officially celebrate the profession together.

What We Stand For  

According to recent research from the National Payroll Institute, 75 per cent of Canadians say their paycheque is their main motivation for turning up to work each day. Yet, despite this, 26 per cent of people don’t know who handles payroll for their organization.  

Payroll is truly at the heart of businesses across the country, and essential to keep the economy moving. It’s time payroll professionals are properly recognized and celebrated for the work they do to keep Canadians paid.  

The national payroll party is advocating for this recognition. We want the government to officially name the third Tuesday in September of each year a “national day to recognize payroll professionals,” and we will work tirelessly to achieve this goal!
